Year of Running 2014

December 8, 2014 by MissZippy 97 Comments

MissZippy’s Year of Running 2014It’s that time again–time to look back at how your year of running has gone. I’ve done this post the past three years and each year, the response has grown, so I’m excited to get it rolling again. How you play along:

1. Grab my button

2. Answer the following questions

3. Link in at the bottom.

I’ll do my best to make it to all of the posts that link in but it may take a while as last year we were into the hundreds. Thanks in advance for linking in. Here we go:

Best race experience? This one isn’t tough for me since I’ve run all of one race this year, the Victoria Gastro Pub 10-miler. But it was such a fantastic, enjoyable day for me. Perfect weather, perfect course, and second place overall. I do have the Celtic Solstice 5-miler coming up this weekend, but I’ll be running it, not racing it, as has been my group’s tradition for years.
Best run? They’ve all been a gift this year and honestly can’t say I’ve had a bad one, but my favorite was probably one I did in Munich’s English Gardens. The temps were in the 60s and the park is so beautiful and obviously well-loved by the Germans. I loved this run and I’ll go back to one of my recurring themes that running while traveling is a must!
Best new piece of gear? This is tough. I am truly loving the Eddie Bauer top and jacket I reviewed and keep pulling them out for my runs. I’m also in the midst of trying out a new GPS watch from TomTom that incorporates the heart rate monitor into the watch itself, so this may rise to the top.
Best piece of running advice you received? To include more stability work into my routine. I have improved by leaps and bounds here this year and it’s making a difference.
Most inspirational runner? Hands down, Pastor Dean, who I profiled here a couple of weeks ago. If you didn’t take the time to read his story, please do. What he’s doing inspires me far more than what any elite will ever do.
If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be? Joyful.

How was your 2104 year or running? http://misszippy1.com/2014/12/year-of-running-2.html I’d love to…

This is great! I am excited to do my year in review- hopefully one day next week. It sounds like overall you had a great running year and while I know from reading your blog that it was frustrating for you as you dealt with injuries, I love how you have been able to stay positive and learn from everything you went through.
