What’s your recent #bestrun?

bestrungraphic 300×150 Whats your recent #bestrun? As I mentioned on Friday, I had a recent #bestrun in Austin–how could I not? All my runs there were in shorts, they were scenic, and they were a great way to see sights I might otherwise miss. Before even making the trip, I knew that at least one run around Town Lake (now officially Lady Bird Lake) was in order. I’d read/heard about the path around Town Lake for ages and I couldn’t wait to try it out.
TownLakerun 300×300 Whats your recent #bestrun?

Loved this path at Town Lake

The path at Town Lake makes one big 10-mile loop around the lake, but there are also bridges that cross at various points, making it easy for shorter options. My first run there was a bit of a mess: I set out for 10 miles, not realizing how close I was to the path. I ran a long way on the roads trying to find access to it. Then I got all turned around at one end thanks to construction that required several detours on the road. The second run, though, was fantastic.

I figured out that we were staying a mere mile from the path and so headed out for an easy six. I hopped onto the trail–which is a wide, dirt path that winds all around the lake–on a shaded, scenic end of the lake. Everything about this run was great. There were plenty of other runners out there for company, but I also had my own quiet peace as I headed on around the lake. I had done my hard work and long run earlier in the week, so this was just an easy recovery run and my legs felt great. After three miles, I turned around and headed back, sorry to end it.

I love running on vacation and always do it–some of my best runs have been on trips. Running in Austin and at Town Lake in particular, lived up to my expectations and that’s why I’m giving it the status of my most recent #bestrun. What’s been yours? Link up below and let us all know!

Sounds like a really great run! I’m with you – some of my best runs have been while on vacation as well. I don’t know if it’s the excitement of exploring a new place or just the novelty of being someplace new but there’s always some magic that happens.

I consider both of the runs I’ve done this week to be my recent bests because I had to take nearly two months off to try to calm Achilles tendonitis, which has been bothering me for a year.

I’m just happy to be out there again, and hoping the pain won’t come back!

Oh man, I am so sorry that I forgot that today was the linkup =( My mind has been all over the place lately.
The first time I ran around Town Lake I couldn’t find how to get onto it either – it was quite frustrating….but after that initial slip up, it was always my fav place to run when I was staying in Austin. Regardless of how late I had been out the night before, how much alcohol had been consumed, or what was on tap for the day, my alarm was always set for early in the AM to get a run on the lake in =)
PS> Had NO idea they renamed it!

My 20-miler on Saturday was my best recent run. My marathon training has been mediocre–lots of illness on my part and my kids’. I’ve never done a spring marathon before because I was afraid of this factor–and sure enough it’s been tough. So going into this run I had no idea how it would go and I was dreading it. I’ve never been able to nail long progression runs, and that’s what this one was supposed to be. But….I did it. It was a perfect heart rate progression run, and the best I’ve ever felt during or after any 20-miler. I also enjoyed that I ran with some new folks from a local running meet-up for the first time–those guys got me through the middle five miles. AND we had beautiful weather, with stunning views of the snow-covered mountains in the west at the end.

I don’t know what my race will bring on April 28, but even if it’s not what I was originally hoping for, I’m more hopeful now that it won’t be a total waste of time and money.

One of my best runs was on the NCR trail in Baltimore County, my old home town. It was so pretty, the weather was perfect and i felt like a million bucks. I live in So Cal which yes can be pretty but can also be a lot of pollution, concrete and graffiti. it gets old, it was so nice to be back home and in the woods surrounded by green. I’ll never forget it. Hope to get back to it soon.

My best run recently was just last week 1 mile warm up, middle 2 miles I jogged the corners and sprinted the straightways, and 1 mile cool down. Total average pace was great, and I feel ready for Half this weekend! Cheers.
