I have always envied those who can meditate. Other than shavasana in yoga, I have never quite gotten into that quiet, peaceful zone, even though I know it’s so good for you. I also have never been good at coming up with a mantra to get me through tough workouts and races, nor I have I mastered visualization, and I know both of those could [...]
What’s your (exercise) type?

Yesterday at CrossFit, we did a set of jump roping and Olympic lifting. I was bored, to be honest, with the lifting part. But every time we got the jump roping section, I wanted to do more than what was prescribed (I didn’t). Checking in with my running partner who was there with me, she had the same reaction. We compared the types of workouts [...]
See if you don’t love MizFit, too!
One of the best aspects of being a FitFluential ambassador are all the new blogs I am exposed to–blogs I might not otherwise have found. One of my absolute favorites is MizFit Online, written by rockstar Carla Birnberg. When I say rockstar, people, I mean it. She is an amazing example of fitness and her blog has such widespread reach–well, it’s enough to turn you [...]
The conversations of a long run

I don’t know about you guys, but when I’m on a long run with my friends, our conversations run the gamut. I think every topic is fair game out there and we manage to cover some serious territory, both literally and figuratively. Saturday’s long run was no exception, so I thought I’d share some of those topics: Food What Shalane Flanagan said to Kara Goucher [...]
Lucy Hatha leggings (review/giveaway)

Today was finally the day when I caved and pulled on some full-length tights for my run. The start-time temp was about 28, but the wind was fierce and thus made it feel like the low 20s. Lucky for me, I had a new pair of Lucy Hatha leggings to try out. How did they hold up? I’d say pretty well. My thoughts on them: [...]
The road back so far…
I’m starting off week four of my return to running. I can tell you it’s been a joyful road so far and has gone maybe even better than expected. So far I’ve been sticking to just three runs a week, supplemented with cycling, swimming, and weight/balance training. I want to make a concerted effort to get at least one day of yoga in there starting [...]

Send me an email with your contact info and I’ll get the package out to you! Now onto my continuing journey that is called running: There are lots of theories about how we should run. My old way of thinking was that [...]
Downtime is the right time
Ahhhhh. That’s how my body, and my mind especially, are feeling right about now. I am thoroughly enjoying a bit of a break from any real training. I’m getting in runs here or there, but not worrying about how far, how fast, or how often. I’m spending some time in the pool, on my bike trainer, and lifting/doing yoga. All of it feels just right [...]
Getting my ohm on
This marathon training cycle, I’ve done many of the things that worked for me last fall. But I’ve also thrown in a couple of new things and I’ve gotta say, they’re working for me. One is the new addition of yoga to my routine. I know I’m late to the party on this one, but I’ve never had time to fit it into my schedule [...]
