After the last few weeks of soccer practices, soccer tryouts, soccer games, lacrosse games, swim practices (both year-round and summer teams), end-of-year parties, end-of-year gift purchasing, etc., etc., all topped off with a traveling husband, I am so ready for summer to begin. One more week for the kids and then life will slow down.
I am a summer girl at heart, anyway. I love the slower pace, love the warm weather, love the trips to the shore (first trip coming soon!), and yes, love having the kids around. I am ready to embrace all the fantastic features my favorite season has to offer.
The warmer temps (with a heavy dose of humidity here) do mean a few extra products to make the going more comfortable, though, don’t they? That said, here are my summer survival kit must-haves:
Sunscreen. No brainer here–and did you read this week that it’s apparently the key to younger looking skin? Yeah, still waiting on that benefit, but I will say I don’t leave home without it in the warmer months. Something sweat-proof/waterproof, like Coppertone’s sport line, is essential for all my swimming, cycling, and running in the summer months.Speaking of the pool, my next summer must-have is…
Swimmer’s shampoo. I like Ultra Swim because the price is right and it works. My hair can easily get that “chloriney” feel if I don’t use something like this to keep the build up away. My daughter uses it every day after swim practice, too, because otherwise, the rat’s nest settles in and it’s not pretty!
Body Glide or Aquaphor. Because when you sweat, you chafe more. I am especially diligent to use it under my heart rate strap because this is an area that can easily rub raw and even lead to some quite unattractive scarring.
So those are my summer essentials. What’s on your list?
