The Maryland meteorologists like to say that around here, spring gets started March 1, regardless of its official debut in a few weeks. I like to believe them, because I am always more than ready for spring. I’m ready:
- To exchange gloves for bare hands
- To put away the headlamp
- To stash the hats
- To switch from tights to shorts
- To pull on sunglasses
- To ditch my shoes and walk around barefoot
- To rediscover favorite tanks and short-sleeve shirts
- To slather up in sunscreen
- To hear the birds waking up
- To see the cherry blossoms
- To sit outside sipping coffee post-run
What do you most look forward to with spring running?

Ouch! I also posted a picture of my odometer today (because my CRV just hit 100,000 miles), and the temp in the desert of California was 79.
Stay calm and wait a month or two. I’ll be whining because if it 117, and you will have my 79

I hate winter. I think I pulled a hamstring trying to run through the snow on Monday…ugh. Why didn’t I listen to my treadmill calling me!?!?

Don’t tell me this I’m still enjoying summer, i’m not ready for winter…
I love the long days and the endless sun, the blue skies. I love diving in the odd dam I run past… I love sitting by the pool with a beer in the hand at the end of a day.
That said i will still run with out a shirt and will still dive into the odd dam (and freeze my butt off) but I will moving inside and drink red wine by the fire…

Nice for you and there goes our summer… But I must admit our winters are mild compared to yours so I am looking forward to the cooler runs. At least I never have to run indoors.

Being able to throw my flip flops on after a long run. Uhhhh…..it can’t get here soon enough. At least no snow storm this weekend.
I’m looking forward to spring because I’m actually running the Cherry Blossom 10-miler. I haven’t seen them since I worked in DC. I’m not looking forward to the pollen, though.

No gloves this morning! Having some daylight at 6AM makes it much easier to get out the door too.
Yes. All of the above. shedding the layers, seeing the buds on trees and flowers, extra doses of vitamin d!

I long for the seasonal change! It is very subtle here and although I enjoy the sunny blue skies, I miss the dramatic changes that you have back east. Call me a drama queen, I don’t care, but I love how the outdoors bursts with life after a long winter. Say hello to the big fat Robin’s hoping all over searching for big fat worms… misssssss

Wait….whhaaaaat??? There are actually seasons? In SoCal the difference between winter and spring is that it’s about 50 in the morning instead of 38-43 in the morning and 60 by noon. Today I’m actually worried about the heat on my LR this evening

You have no idea how much I’m looking forward to Spring! I’m a running wimp. I don’t like the cold, I’m afraid to run when it’s dark, and moisture sends me running indoors. I was so happy to hear Tom Tasselmeyer tell me spring is here!

I’m looking forward to light at 5 a.m. on my Tuesday speed workouts. I’m NOT looking forward to the winds or the heat that comes soon after, but I guess they’ll make me stronger for Chicago (which will hopefully feature neither heat nor wind).
I’m looking forward to ditching my fleece socks.

It would be overly optimistic for me to wish for spring quite yet, but I can’t wait to run outside and have the roads be clear of ice and snow.
Loved your last post too. I think blogs are more fun and meaningful to read when people are real. Obviously none of us share every little detail, good or bad, but keeping it real is what builds connections with others I think. I definitely enjoy the blogs that are positive, but real.

Weez and I had the same conversation this morning. I am so ready for spring and very much over the wind chill and snow-covered trails and temps in the teens. It makes me smile how the seasons seem to cycle at almost the perfect rate; just when I get sick of the heat, fall begins; just when I get sick of the cold, it’s March and spring is on the horizon. Well…. I hope
