By now you have probably seen the posts making the rounds where bloggers list what makes them happy in life. Two come to mind for me this week, one by Angela at Happy Fit Mama and one by Christine at Love, Life, Surf. I enjoyed both of theirs and picked up on the common thread of the small things in life that make it all worthwhile. And while it may be a creative cop out for me to jump on the happy bandwagon, I’m doing it, because sometimes some forced reflection is worthwhile.
My list, in complete random order:
- Homemade soup
- My neighborhood
- Falling asleep by 9 p.m.
- Watching my daughter run
- Family vacations
- Efficiently run meetings
- A Saturday morning 20-miler with friends
- A nice glass of red
- A book so epic I don’t want to start another once I finish
- Watching my son become a young man
- Swimming in a lake
- Family hikes
- Dining outside
- Naps
- Snuggling with my pets
I could go on, but I’m going to pull the plug at these 15 small, yet big, happiness factors in my life.
What’s on your list?

GREAT list! Glad you jumped on the bandwagon. Just reading your list made me happy too!

I could agree with every one of these. Ok, I might substitue red for whtie, but that is all. Rain make me happy. Hearing it on the roof. CO does not get near enough rainy days!

Efficiently run meetings… yes!! Wouldn’t have thought of that one, but it’s so true.
An early bedtime, a good book, naps, family vacations… yep! Great list!

I like the happy posts! Instead of giving you my list, I’ll give you the top items on your list that I share (a lot of my list would be the same as your’s!): family hikes, swimming in a lake, snuggling with pets, efficiently run meetings, and family vacations.
Happy Friday!

Love this! I was smiling as I read your list. Bed by 9pm would be ah-mazing. And efficiently run meetings? A God-send. And those epic books – I think I need another one of those in my life soon.

I love books that are so good you just want to keep rereading even when they’re over!

Love this post. I’ll have to do one. Right I would add: a good cup of coffee, ice cream cone on a hot day, a book that you do not want to end, crossing the finish line with a PR, a suprisingly lower number on the scale, warm apple pie. I’ll stop now.

Good to remember what brings us joy:) It’s way too easy to forget sometimes.

Since perception is in the mind of the beholder, I am going to believe a “nice glass of red” means you are a vampire. Which I suspected all along.

Homemade soup; good one! It’s the season for it.

That sure is a happy list. It made me smile. Since I don’t have kids (if I did, I’d love to watch them participate in events), I like the one about snuggling with pets. Awwww
I am so with you on an efficiently-run meeting and a nice glass of red. I miss long runs with my running group on Saturday mornings. I haven’t found an equivalent here yet. Right now some of the things that make me happy include enjoying my first cup of coffee in the morning while reading favorite blogs, college football season, and making and eating dinner with my spouse.

I have to say that I love what you said about a “book so epic…” – so true about some of the best books I’ve read… =)
One of my favorites is a run where I feel like / want to run all day…I’m anxious to get those runs back again!!!

Great list. Right now, my top three: are coming home to Cabo (our pup) after work and the way she just wiggles and wiggles with excitement; being able to FaceTime with my parents before dinner; paying it forward after a friend has made me smile/laugh.

I love your happy list. I like all of those thing, ESPECIALLY efficiently run meetings! I love that you put that on there. Add “people who are on time to things” and we’ve got a pretty comprehensive list of things that are happy-fying. That’s a word.
