On Saturday, I’ll be boarding one of these:

I love traveling by train
And heading to NYC…

I love New York!
…To do a one-on-one coaching session with Lee Saxby. If you’re not familiar with Lee, he’s one of the world’s top barefooting coaches. He’s developed some of the most simplistic ways of explaining proper barefoot running technique. His sessions on Saturday are all part of the big New York City Barefoot Run weekend. In addition to the coaching they’re offering, there will also be plenty of informative talks on proper technique from the likes of Chris McDougall, Mark Cucuzzella, Jason Robillard, Michael Sandler and others. Sunday caps it all off with the actual barefoot run out on Governor’s Island.
Now, since I”m not back to running yet (story of my life), I won’t be able to take part in the barefoot run on Sunday, which makes me sad. But that’s what next year is about. This year, I do get this fantastic session with Lee, which I’m really excited about. Did I mention the session is just for injured runners? Yeah, pretty cool. And did I mention that I’m one of nine lucky people getting this free session?
You know I’ll have a full report, with pictures, when I get back. For now, I’m loading up the Kindle to enjoy a relaxing 3-hr. train ride to NYC and getting ready to enjoy a day that revolves around running and learning.

That sounds amazing…can’t wait to hear all about it! Have a blast

Awesome, that is a barefoot (injured) runner’s dream come true! I was just thinking of you this morning, wondering if there was progress, and was so happy to read this!

Have fun in New York. The whole premise of barefoot is awesome when you learn from someone who has a passion for it. I did a one on one with Barefoot Ted a few years back and it was the best coaching I have ever had.

What a wonderful opportunity. You’re bound to learn so much. Wish I lived closer to NYC for a short meet up.
Question for you, and you’ve prob. already discussed it in some of your posts but if you’re injured why are you trying barefoot running? Did it cause the injury? Did it exasperate an existing injury OR (sorry for 100 question session) Is it to correct running form so you don’t re-injure yourself?

Just a quick plug, since I am a librarian and you mentioned your Kindle…the public library now has FREE downloadable books for Kindle. It happened last week and made my Wednesday at work super exciting. :^)
