POM Wonderful Review and Giveaway

I’m not much of a juice drinker–the occasional glass of vegetable juice is about the extent of it. However, I’ll try just about anything and POM Wonderful recently asked if I’d like to review their 100 percent pomegranate juice. I’ve always been curious about pomegranate juice, and a recent article Runner’s World tagged it as a good recovery drink. Did someone say recovery? That’s my obsession these days, so I was game.

Apparently, pomegranate contains a phytonutrient called ellagiatannin, which helps reduce inflammation, thus its ability to help with recovery. That’s great, but it needs to taste good too if athletes are going to use it. I can say it passed my taste test. I know pomegranate juice has a reputation of being bitter, but I found it quite tasty. It was tart and reminded me a bit of cranberry juice, which I’ve always liked. I let my kids have a few sips too and they gave it a big thumbs up. And because it can help with recovery, I threw a bottle into my race bag this past weekend and downed it post-race. Did it help? Not sure, but every little bit counts right now.

POM Wonderful sent me enough juice that I can share some with you–I have a six-pack of 8-ounce bottles to give away. For all you marathoners in training, this should be enough to get you through those last long runs!

I like the tartness of this stuff and find it refreshing…good to mix with vodka too in case people like to do that for recovery.

Love pomegranate juice, though eating a pomegranate is even more fun. Amen to Beth's suggestion and I know Molly made margaritas so that sounds good as well.

I'm with ShupUpandRun: Personally I prefer pomegranate juice with wodka or gin. 😉 But that won't be a useful recovery drink, would it? 😉

I've been addicted to sour Cherry juice. They say that's good for recovery too. All I know is it's delicious, and I killed a carton of it last night. Cheers!

LOL copycat! 😉 jk of course. Guess I will have to see who you pick and make sure we don't reward a bunch of juice to one person :)

Howdy, just wanted to say thanks for your comment regarding getting back into shape quickly. You got cred, and most other comments were similar, so it was cool to hear that from other runners.
